We are all south of Edmonton

Hello, my name is Ryan, and I presume you found your way here by following the link on the Barry Melrose Rocks Twitter account. Welcome. First, I want to confirm that while Barry Melrose does still rock, that name has floated to many other venues, and I wanted to signify that this is my own pile of garbage, and not make you think it is the beloved blog of our collective past. Barry Melrose Rocks is dead. Long live Barry Melrose Rocks.
Second, the name. Back in the 1970s, when we were all making new blogs, so many people kept coming up with names that reflected an attention grabbing headline, and the site would be "verbing famous person" and voila, website. It was like a meme, before memes were a thing. Kevin Schultz absolutely changed the game, by turning that on it's head, and we had "Famous Person Verbs." A new era, but even that is long past. I am not famous enough to just name this "Ryan's hockey blog" and in the venues I have received some attention, it definitely wasn't for hockey
My other sports related site is called Rhino and Compass, and I'm not going to explain that, because I'm not sure I could, but the "South" part of the name is loosely based on the compass part of my other site. This is is a conglomeration, people.  Edmonton is the furthest north of NHL teams in a league that everyone thinks of as "north" and thus, a hockey blog was named. Honestly, it took longer to explain the name than it did to think of it.
Third, the content. If you are indeed familiar with my work ("work") at Barry Melrose Rocks, you will know not to come here for breaking news. Hockey is a beautiful game, and there is novelty in every team. Hockey sweaters are the most attractive uniform in sports, and the league is in unique sites. I might write some more serious posts, but there will be a lot of silly ones as well. I'm on Blogger, after all. I'm just going to do what I want.
Last, and most importantly, welcome to this new site. It's going to be a work in progress, now and forever, and I hope you have fun. I sure hope I do.
